Rather Be Here
To occupy myself in lockdown, I chose the largest canvas that would fit in my car, and decided to paint where Iād rather be. It was a huge learning process, looking back I should have worked with oil, as the paint would dry too quickly! I ended up working in sections rather than layers on the whole canvas, and so many times wanted to quit. My favourite part is the rockwall, I am in love with the depth it gives off. I learned a lot about lighting, and how you really need to think about its source and what the effect will be on so many different surfaces (the path, the plants, the cottage, the sea). This treasure now sits in my parents house, framed by two wooden shutters.
